STAIN TYPE: MUSTARD , TURMERIC AND CURRY
FOR WOOL FIBERS LOOK HERE
TOOLS REQUIRED: Hot water extraction machine, Pros Choice DCI Light or steam iron, and a terry towel.
CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Stain Magic.
Suggestions and Cautions:
Mustard stains are one of the most difficult stains you will encounter, however if you have the Pros Choice DCI Light you can achieve miraculous results. It is MOST important
NOT to apply heat either from high temperature cleaning or from stain removal procedures other than the procedure, which follows:
The performance of this procedure will vary depending on four things:
1. The type of mustard or stain.
2. What previous treatments have been made to the stain.
3. The age of the stain.
4. Your treatment technique.
PROCEDURE:
Using DCI Light:
Step 1. Thoroughly extraction rinse stain to remove all mustard.
Step 2. Blot the stain dry with absorbent towel.
Step 3. Saturate stain with Stain Magic solution.
Step 4. Cover stain with DCI Chemical Activation Light.
Step 5. Allow lamp to dwell until stain disappears. This time will vary from 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on severity of stain.
Tip: If you do not have a DCI Light you may use steam heat as an alternative. Your results will not be as predictable as they are using the lamp.
Using Steam Iron:
Step 1. Set your steam iron to the lowest steam setting. This setting is approximately at the Nylon position on most irons.
Step 2. Apply Power Gel solution to stained fibers only, agitate gently and thoroughly rinse clean using hot water extraction. Leave as dry as possible and blot dry with towel.
Step 3. Apply Stain Magic to stained fibers only.
Step 4. Cover with a damp lightweight terry towel.
Step 5. Apply steam heat. Check progress periodically by peeking under towel every 15 seconds until stain is removed. Be on the alert for carpet color loss. If color loss is
observed discontinue heat.
MUSTARD STAIN TROUBLESHOOTING:
You are using steam heat to activate Stain Magic and yellow color is mostly gone but light yellow cast remains... You may not have cleaned all mustard substance from fibers
before beginning stain removal. This is typical with difficult mustards and may be as good as you can expect with this particular stain. Repeating the treatment will remove
more of the yellow but may also remove more carpet color. Consider a final touchup with carpet dye to finish the job.
Tip: If you use a DCI Activator Light you will be able to remove mustard stains completely and safely. You are using steam heat to activate Stain Magic and yellow spot remains
nearly unchanged...
Stain may have been treated previously with a heat transfer type process and be permanently set.
Yellow spot may be the result of bleach or paint rather than mustard.
Reaction may require more time.
STAIN TYPE: PROTEINS: MILK, EGG & OTHERS
TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE and Carpet Shark

Step 2. Apply solution to stained fibers to thoroughly wet fibers.
Step 3. Gently but thoroughly agitate fibers to break up and emulsify deposit. Dwell time will help the biochemistry work for you here.
Step 4. Thoroughly rinse via water extraction leaving carpet as dry as possible (do not use an acid rinsing agent here).
Step 5. Apply Stain Blotter powder to absorb any wicking that might occur during drying.
Step 6. When spot is completely dry, vacuum thoroughly.
SUGGESTIONS AND CAUTIONS:
Also you may experience wicking of blood on heavier deposits. If deposit is heavy enough to have soaked through backing and into pad, replace the contaminated pad and
clean carpet backing as outlined in Steps 1 through 5 above.
Wicking can be corrected by using an absorbent powder such as Stain Blotter. Simply cover spot liberally with Stain Blotter following your stain removal process. The wicking
will go into the Stain Blotter and can then be vacuumed away when dry.
TIP: Stain Magic will make most reoccurring stains disappear.

FOR WOOL FIBERS LOOK HERE
TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE, Carpet Shark, trigger sprayer, steam iron or steamer and a terry towel.
CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Red Relief or Red 1.
PROCEDURE:
Step 1. Clean stained area using hot water extraction.
Step 2. Blot area dry with clean white towel to remove excess moisture from carpet.
Step 3. Mix Red Relief Part A and Part B in equal parts.
Step 4. Using trigger sprayer, wet stained fibers with Red Relief mixture.
Step 5. Cover spot with a moderately wet (excess water squeezed out) terry towel. Note: A lightweight-cleaning towel folded double works well here.
Step 6. Apply steam heat from an iron set at the lowest steam temperature.
Step 7. Check the stain every 30 seconds.
Step 8. When the stain has turned to a light yellow or has disappeared remove heat and towel.
Step 9. Extraction rinse chemical residue away.
Tips: Usually incomplete stain removal is the result of insufficient heating time (high temperature is not necessary but dwell time is important). Red Relief will continue to work
on stains which have penetrated dye sites even after you have rinsed the carpet clean. Because of this you will find that if the slightest tinge of red remains following your
treatment, it will disappear overnight.
The type of iron you use is IMPORTANT, here’s why... Conventional irons can work against you because of uneven heat/steam application to the carpet. The iron that will serve
you best is an iron which has steam vents covering the ironing surface rather than one with a single row of vents around the perimeter of the ironing surface.
